Did you know that you may be able to claim travel expenses if you travel more than 40km one-way from your place of residence for medical appointments.
If you travel at least 40km one-way but less than 80km one-way you can claim the cost of the travel of $0.595/km (2021 rate for NS was $0.55/km).
If you travel at least 80km one-way you can claim the cost of the travel including accommodations, meals, and parking at $0.595/km & $23/meal (2021 rate for NS was $0.55/km & $23/meal).
To claim transportation and travel expenses, all of the following conditions must be met:
1. Substantially equivalent medical services were not avail
able near your home. 2. You took a reasonably direct travelling route. 3. It is reasonable, under the circumstances, for you to have travelled to that place to get those medical services.
